The Amazing Race Australia is an upcoming Australian reality television game show based on the American reality television series, The Amazing Race that will be broadcast by the Seven Network in early 2011. It will feature teams of two people who have some form of a pre-existing personal relationship, and will follow the various challenges that they undertake as they race around the world. The show is currently in pre-production and will be produced by Active TV Australia.
Application deadline for first season will be close on September 6, 2010 initially with the applicants required to be 18 years old with citizenship or permanent residency. However, due to insurance issues overseas, the minimum age for applicants was raised from 18 to 21 years of age. Filming is expected between September 2010 to December 2010 for five weeks with the show expected to be aired in 2011. The host is still unknown, but some names are Phil Keoghan, Daniel MacPherson, Grant Denyer, Tom Williams, Luke Jacobz and Ben Cousins.
